FOLLOW UP
Once treatment has been
concluded, Patient is given a document certifying the effected treatment.
Then medical examinations are arranged
to evaluate disease response and onset of side effects due to
treatment. Frequency of visits depends on type of treatment and it is
generally quarterly, six-monthly or yearly.
During each visit, Radiation
Oncologist , while updating patient record:
- verifies availability of required
tests and documentation of possible operations performed during the
time elapsed since last visit
- collects anamnestic, clinical, biochemical
and instrumental data
- evaluates clinical response and
possible onset of side effects according to international criteria
- plainly informs patient about clinical
situation
- if necessary, consults other Medical
Specialists or starts new diagnostic/therapeutical courses
- advises Patient of tests to be
performed and date of next visit
